(+ Meeting up with a fellow blogger! Guess who!)
If you’ve been with me for quite a long time now, you’ll know that I have always had a thing with beautiful cafés and the calming ambiance it gives me. I love staying for hours — listening to the clatter of cups and glasses over the barista area and hearing the sound of keys from people typing on their laptop – their eyes not leaving the screen. I love how I can steal chill songs from every café’s beautiful playlist and I also love how every good café makes me feel relaxed after.
Anyway, there is a newly-opened coffee shop around Defence Road in Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi and I am not kidding when I tell you it’s a gem. This.. is Cups and Mills Café.
The first thing I noticed upon entering is its ambiance. Cups and Mills has this chill vibes that I always look for in every café. It’s located a block or two away from the main highway and it’s the perfect choice for people who are looking for a silent place to hang out and talk about good things and bad decisions with friends.
You can also bring your laptop and work here while taking a sip of your favorite coffee because this café has free wifi – not to mention, fast internet speed.
Yup, totally a #coffice material right here.
Shall I add their comfy chairs, as well?
FOOD & DRINKS
Now, no matter how beautiful your café is, I won’t be a regular customer if your food isn’t good and your service is rubbish. (Cups and Mills Cafe ain’t even worried about this ’cause their food is bomb.)
Rule #1 on every new restaurant: if you don’t know what to order, ask what their best seller is.
Let me start with their drinks.
My friends and I chose nougat chocolate for our hot drink and three different types of milkshake for the cold drink: reoberry, toblerone, and pistachio milkshake.
If you have a sweet tooth like I do, then congrats! We’re soulmates!! Hahaha kidding. If you do, then I’m sure you won’t have to worry about which ones to order.
My Auntie and I kinda have different taste buds with everything and we were arguing about the sweetness of the Nougat Chocolate. She said that it was too sweet for her taste but for me, it was… normal? HAHA! So what I advise when you don’t like your drink too sweet, just inform the manager/staff ASAP and I’m pretty sure they will adjust to your needs.
I always love how our favorite chocolates are transformed into other things! Very innovative, ‘di ba? Take this Toblerone Milkshake for example. Imagine a Toblerone melted in milk blended with ice.. that is how it tastes like. Ganung ganun. Not too sweet for me, but then again, our taste buds might be different. Hahahaha. (Hope they can come up with a Reese’s Milkshake, soon.)
The Reoberry Milkshake was unexpected, though. I didn’t expect its texture to be super creamy! You can actually taste the crushed oreo but the berry’s flavor is quite noticeable, as well, while sipping it. You’ll be shocked how the two complements each other!
Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you… My current favorite drink: Pistachio Milkshake. Sorry, but whoever thinks that pistachio doesn’t taste good, fight me. HAHA. I love this!! I love anything pistachio and I just can’t explain how I loved this drink so much I am actually craving for it at the moment.
Have any of you tasted a coffee-flavored ice cream before? This is what it is when you turn it into a shake. Personally, this is what I loved next to my Pistachio Milkshake. I have a love-hate relationship with coffee (sometimes I like it, sometimes I don’t) but I won’t mind having this one. This is what I would recommend if you’re not a fan of sweet shakes.
We were also told that they are part of Lavazza and are serving Lavazza coffee.
And now… Food!
My goodness, I don’t even know why I’m writing this at night but here goes the scrumptious food that we had. (Naaaks, scrumptious, define nga!)
Personally, I liked the two sandwiches the most. And to say that I’m not really a fan of sandwiches, ha? It’s really good. Regarding the Red Velvet Cake, it wasn’t that moist but the flavor is still there. I’ve had immensely sweet Red Velvet Cakes before and this isn’t one of those. The flavor and its sweetness were a thumbs up for me!
And.. the Fruit Salad. We were guilty of our unhealthy food consumption so we have to have at least a healthy meal on our course, right? Hahaha! Nothing special with this one but props to how fresh their fruits are!!
5/5! I don’t have anything negative to say regarding this restaurant’s service. Upon entering, you will be welcomed by their Ma’am Juna (their manager) and Sir Carlo (their bartender) with warm smile on their faces. They were very accommodating, approachable, and they always make sure that we were comfortable with everything.
We even met the owner himself, Sir Fadi, who is one of the most down-to-earth owners I have ever met. Guys, I even saw him help his staff with cleaning outdoors. A very humble guy and I admire him for that. It’s rare nowadays to meet someone from a high position and be that humble. We all know that.
Inexpensive and good food, chill ambiance, fast internet connection, and a 5-star customer service. A truly recommendable cafe in Abu Dhabi.
Cups & Mills Café is located beside Shawarma Counter, near Sahara Hotel Apartments in Defence Road, Abu Dhabi; open from 6 am to 11 pm on Saturdays-Thursdays and on Fridays, 3 pm to 11 pm; and does home delivery around Al Nahyan-area for now.
They also offer promotions and discounts because they’re awesome like that. Buy 1 Get 1 on Entertainer; and 10% off on regular customers, same building residents, and VPS Health Care Insurance staff. You can also have 10% discount just by mentioning that you’ve heard of their café from me. Joke. Hahaha. I’m kidding on that last part, but maybe it’s worth a try!

Question! Do you love pistachios, too? If yes, please let me know so I’m not alone. And if not, explain your answer in 28 sentences, jejemon style, in pure English, on the comment section below. Fight me.
